Privacy Policy

Overview

Areaplane is designed with privacy as a core principle. The application runs entirely in your web browser. Your floor plans, measurements, and project data are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.

Data We Do Not Collect

• Floor plans and images: Files you upload are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to any server.
• Measurements and projects: All measurement data and saved projects are stored in your browser's local storage only.
• Accounts: You do not need to register or give us any personal information to use the Areaplane tools. If you contact us, see the next section.

Contact, Help, and Support

If you contact us by email, form, or chat, including any support or chat feature we add later, we receive what you send and use it only to respond to you and support you. Do not share sensitive personal information in these channels.

• Contact form and email: We receive your name, email address, message, and the page you sent it from. Messages reach us by email and are kept as correspondence.
• Support chat: Chat messages are answered by a person and are not sent to an AI model. We store your messages, our replies, the page you wrote from, and your name and email only if you give them. Your browser keeps a private key to the conversation, and we store only a protected form of it and of your IP address. Conversations are deleted automatically 7 days after the last message, and you can delete yours at any time from the chat. We may be notified of new messages through a notification service.
• Abuse prevention: We use IP addresses briefly to limit abuse. Our server logs do not record message content or email addresses.

These features run on our own server in Québec, Canada, behind Cloudflare. The website is hosted by Vercel.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (e.g., page views, traffic sources). Google Analytics may use cookies to collect anonymous usage data. This data helps us improve the site and does not include any personal information or floor plan data. You can turn analytics or advertising cookies off at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. You can also opt out of Google Analytics by using a browser plugin.

Advertising

Areaplane does not show ads today. We may show ads in the future, for example through Google AdSense. If we do, Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and you can turn advertising cookies off with Cookie settings or opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Local Storage

Areaplane uses your browser's local storage to auto-save your current project. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings or by starting a new project.

Because it lives in your browser, clearing browsing data or site data also removes your projects, and they are not shared between browsers or devices. Use Download Project in each app to keep a copy you can re-import later.

Check it yourself

You can verify this in any desktop browser by cutting the connection and continuing to work:

1. Open one of the apps and load a plan or a project.
2. Open your browser's developer tools (right-click the page and choose Inspect, or press F12), then open the Network tab.
3. Change the throttling menu from “No throttling” to “Offline”.
4. Keep using the app: trace, measure, save, and reopen your project.

Everything keeps working and the Network tab stays empty apart from the page itself, because your files never leave your device. The map app cannot fetch new satellite tiles while offline, but your outlines and measurements are unaffected.

Our commitment

Today Areaplane is 100% on device: plans never leave your browser. If we ever offer to host and save plans on our servers, existing plans will never be imported automatically. Moving a plan to the server will always be opt-in, one plan at a time, and only when you choose to transfer it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
