Areaplane's web tools have always kept your work in your browser. That keeps it private, but it also means a project lives on one computer, and clearing your browsing data clears it too. Areaplane Sync changes that. It arrives with the next Areaplane update.
- Private
Only you and Apple see your projects.
- Free
Uses the free iCloud storage of your Apple Account.
- Everywhere
Any browser, Windows and Android too.
No iPhone, iPad, or Mac? You only need an Apple Account, and it's free. Create one now so you're ready when Areaplane Sync arrives.
Create an Apple AccountYour Projects, Between You and Apple
Most websites ask you to make an account, then keep your projects on their own servers. Areaplane Sync works the other way round. You sign in with Apple, and the page saves and opens your projects directly in your own iCloud. There's no Areaplane account to create, and your projects are shared only between you and Apple. Areaplane never sees them.
The tools still run in your browser, as they do today. Only satellite imagery and saving to iCloud need a connection.
Any Computer, Any Phone
Sign in on another computer and the same floor plans, maps, and irrigation plans are there. Edit in one browser and the change shows up in the other a few seconds later.
You don't need an iPhone or a Mac. Areaplane Sync works with any Apple Account, including on Windows and Android, and you can create one for free. Projects use your own iCloud storage: 1 GB with any Apple Account, or 5 GB once the account has been used on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Saving on the web is free.
Together With the App
Floor plans and maps saved with Areaplane Sync also show up in the Areaplane app on iPhone and iPad:
- With Areaplane Pro, you can open and edit them in the app, and changes sync both ways. Trace a property at your desk, walk it with a client on your iPad, and find the changes waiting when you get back.
- On the free plan, your web projects show in the app view only. Pro lets you edit them there.
How Areaplane Sync works
Irrigation plans are web only. They sync between browsers but don't open in the app.
When the update arrives, update Areaplane on your iPhone and iPad as well. Older versions of the app don't sync with the web.
Until Then
Nothing changes in the meantime. The web tools stay free and need no account, projects keep saving in your browser, and you can export a project file to open on another computer or in the app.
When Areaplane Sync is live, you'll find it under Saved Projects, with a way to copy the projects already in your browser into your iCloud.
